sysadminandClaude Opus 4.8 22d0fdd251 fix(mcp): accept acquired merger-lease provenance and add owner finalization (Closes #742)
Root cause (confirmed on PR #740, session 33780-7168cbeeba58, marker 12354):

merger_lease_adoption.SANCTIONED_PROVENANCE_SOURCES already contained
SOURCE_ACQUIRE_MERGER, so the membership check passed, but
is_sanctioned_session_lease() branched only for SOURCE_ADOPT and for
{SOURCE_ACQUIRE, SOURCE_HEARTBEAT} and fell through to `return False` for a
lease minted by gitea_acquire_merger_pr_lease. assess_mutation_lease_gate()
therefore appended "in-session lease lacks sanctioned provenance" and
gitea_merge_pr fail-closed on the merger's own freshly acquired lease.
describe_session_lease_proof() likewise had no branch for that source and
reported the lease as lease_proof_kind=unsanctioned. Separately, no
merger-role owner-session operation existed to end that lease, so a failed
merger lease could only expire.

A. Acquired merger provenance

is_sanctioned_session_lease() now accepts SOURCE_ACQUIRE_MERGER, but only via
the new assess_acquired_merger_lease_integrity(), which fails closed unless
the in-session record is complete and self-consistent: comment marker present
and matching between provenance and session, non-empty session id, holder
identity, merger profile, repository, valid PR number, and a normalized
40-hex candidate_head. describe_session_lease_proof() reports the explicit
kind sanctioned_acquire_merger. Manual _SESSION_LEASE seeding, forged or
incomplete records, mismatched fields, and unknown provenance all remain
rejected; reviewer-acquire, reviewer-heartbeat, and merger-adoption paths are
untouched.

B. Merger owner-session finalization

New native tool gitea_release_merger_pr_lease terminally releases or abandons
a merger's own comment-backed lease when the merge does not occur. It is
merger-only (gitea.read + gitea.pr.comment + gitea.pr.merge; reviewer profiles
lack pr.merge) with an explicit capability-map task release_merger_pr_lease /
gitea_release_merger_pr_lease bound to gitea.pr.comment + role merger, and it
is listed as role-exclusive in the resolver. assess_merger_lease_finalization()
verifies exact session ownership, repository, PR, candidate head vs live head,
profile, identity, marker presence on the thread, and the native runtime token
fingerprint recorded at acquisition; foreign-session release, reviewer-profile
use, and any mismatch fail closed. Finalization appends a terminal lease marker
and never edits or deletes ledger history; an already-terminal lease returns
already_terminal and posts nothing. The PR, approval, decision lock, branch,
and worktree are all preserved. gitea_release_reviewer_pr_lease is unchanged
and is not repurposed for merger sessions.

"abandoned" is added to reviewer_pr_lease._TERMINAL_PHASES; without it an
abandoned marker would fall through the generic non-empty phase branch and
keep re-arming the lease as active.

Tests: new tests/test_merger_lease_finalization.py (38 tests, 11 subtests)
covers all twelve acceptance criteria — provenance sanctioning, explicit proof
kind, merge-gate acceptance, manual-seed and unknown-provenance rejection,
profile/role/session/head/repository/fingerprint mismatches, owner release,
foreign-session refusal, reviewer refusal, append-only idempotent
finalization, no surviving lease after finalization, and no regression in
adoption or reviewer-lease behavior. The defect was reproduced on clean
baseline a8d2087 first (is_sanctioned=False, proof_kind=unsanctioned, no
finalization path).

Validation: targeted lease/capability suites 272 passed. Full suite
3305 passed, 6 skipped, 2 failed — both failures
(test_issue_702_review_findings_f1_f6 F1 recovery, reconciler supersession
close) reproduce identically on clean baseline master a8d2087 in a throwaway
worktree and are pre-existing #737 org/repo-forwarding drift, unrelated to
this change.

sysadminandClaude Fable 5 c2fc2683b9 fix(recovery): address PR #703 review findings F1-F6 (#702)
Fixes the six defects from the formal REQUEST_CHANGES review at
889931d553:

- F1: run sanctioned stale-binding recovery in
  gitea_resolve_task_capability BEFORE the terminal launcher probe, so a
  worktree removed mid-session can no longer wedge mutation resolution on
  'missing cwd' before recovery runs. The fail-closed probe block now also
  carries the binding classification evidence.
- F2: _resolve_preflight_workspace_path resolves with the same
  verify_paths existence checks as the canonical mutation context, and
  _get_workspace_porcelain returns a synthetic tracked-dirty sentinel when
  the workspace is missing or git fails — an uninspectable workspace can
  never read as clean/empty porcelain.
- F3: the orphaned_expired_superseded_head cleanup matrix now requires
  affirmative safe worktree evidence (worktree_clean=true or
  worktree_exists=false), aligned with the sibling orphaned_owner_missing
  gate and the diagnosis path; unknown evidence fails closed.
- F4: reviewer-session-lease shadows and stale-binding audit records are
  recovery-critical kinds exempt from the 4h session-state TTL; they
  persist until a sanctioned clear terminally reconciles them.
- F5: session-lease shadows are keyed by lease session id (collision-safe
  identity) with a list_states enumeration API; concurrent same-profile
  sessions can no longer overwrite or misattribute each other's crash
  evidence. Legacy single-slot records remain readable.
- F6: the durable audit record is persisted (status=pending) BEFORE the
  environment binding is cleared; if audit persistence fails the clear
  does not happen and the failure is reported explicitly.

30 new regression tests cover deleted-worktree recovery ordering, missing/
deleted/symlinked/mid-evaluation path changes, unknown-evidence cleanup,
TTL boundary (before/at/after), interleaved and reconnected concurrent
sessions, and audit-write failure/retry/idempotence/ordering.

Issue #704 dotenv load-path prevention is intentionally NOT included.

Full suite: 2695 passed, 6 skipped, 161 subtests passed.

sysadminandClaude Fable 5 889931d553 feat(recovery): stale worktree binding demotion and crash-orphan lease recovery (Closes #702)
An unhandled daemon crash skips teardown: the durable reviewer lease
comment survives, the in-memory session lease dies, and the
auto-reconnected daemon inherits a stale GITEA_ACTIVE_WORKTREE from its
parent environment (PR #701 / branches/review-pr-654 incident).

AC2 — safe clear/re-bind of stale bindings:
- new stale_binding_recovery.py: classifies the active env binding
  (corroborated / unverified_inherited / provably_stale_missing_path /
  superseded_by_session_lease) and produces a fail-closed recovery plan;
  only provably stale bindings are clear-eligible
- gitea_resolve_task_capability and daemon boot run the sanctioned
  recovery (durable audit via session state); runtime context surfaces
  the classification read-only
- namespace_workspace_binding.resolve_namespace_workspace(verify_paths=…)
  demotes env-bound worktrees whose path no longer exists; mutation and
  runtime-context resolution always verify

AC3 — recoverable lease cleanup after unexpected exit:
- durable session-lease shadow (KIND_REVIEWER_SESSION_LEASE) written on
  sanctioned record/heartbeat, removed on sanctioned clear; a crash
  leaves provable orphan evidence (owner pid + session id)
- assess_crashed_session_lease_orphan derives tri-state
  owner_process_alive: only a dead recorded owner pid proves exit; PID
  liveness is never ownership proof
- diagnose/cleanup wrappers consume the shadow instead of passing
  owner_process_alive=None
- new classification orphaned_expired_superseded_head: an expired
  superseded-head lease with no terminal review stops being a permanent
  ambiguous/wait; post-expiry it unlocks fresh acquisition, and guarded
  cleanup becomes eligible only with owner-exit evidence + clean/absent
  worktree + controller authorization + confirmation. Pre-expiry
  behavior is unchanged (fail-closed wait, no steal).

Validation: tests/test_issue_702_stale_binding_lease_recovery.py (29
tests covering lost in-session leases, old-head leases, runtime/worktree
mismatch, managed reconnect, safe expiry); full suite 2665 passed,
6 skipped, 161 subtests.

  foreign_expired_current_head, foreign_completed_superseded_head,
  foreign_expired_superseded_head, orphaned_owner_missing,
  ambiguous_conflicting_evidence
- gitea_cleanup_obsolete_reviewer_comment_lease with confirmation
  CLEANUP OBSOLETE REVIEWER LEASE <n> and controller_recovery_authorized
- preserve audit history via append-only phase=released marker
- never repoint, transfer validation, use PID ownership, or steal
  active current-head foreign leases
- regression for PR #688 lease comment 10749 after recorded expiry

sysadmin 964505654f feat: diagnose reviewer lease handoff next actions (#599)
Add read-only diagnose_reviewer_pr_lease_handoff and MCP tool
gitea_diagnose_reviewer_pr_lease_handoff so open-PR foreign leases,
instructed-lease replacement, reclaimable release, and worktree
binding mismatch return a canonical next_action without steal paths.

sysadmin 9b96085d8d fix: newest lease marker wins so release ends prior claims
find_active_reviewer_lease walked past terminal markers and re-armed
older claimed leases after gitea_release_reviewer_pr_lease. Treat the
newest marker as authoritative (append-only ledger).

sysadmin 08ea214526 feat: guarded merger lease adoption flow (#536)
Replace manual in-process _SESSION_LEASE seeding with an auditable
gitea_adopt_merger_pr_lease tool that posts durable adoption proof and
records sanctioned session provenance. Mutation gates now reject bare
record_session_lease calls without provenance from acquire/adopt/heartbeat.

sysadminandClaude Opus 4.8 2faf18a802 feat: add safe post-merge moot lease cleanup for already-merged PRs (Closes #515)
Refuse merge-oriented reviewer-lease acquisition/adoption on an already
merged/closed PR, and add a read-first cleanup path for a lingering moot lease.

- reviewer_pr_lease.assess_acquire_lease: new pr_merged_or_closed flag; fail
  closed with a post_merge_moot reason and no lease body when the PR already
  merged/closed.
- reviewer_pr_lease.assess_post_merge_moot_lease: pure assessment. Only treats a
  lease as moot when the PR is merged/closed; never proposes touching an active
  lease on an open PR; provides a terminal phase:released (blocker:
  post-merge-moot) body to neutralise the moot lease append-only; idempotent
  once the released marker is the newest entry.
- gitea_acquire_reviewer_pr_lease: fetch live PR state, pass the flag, surface
  post_merge_moot on refusal (no comment posted).
- gitea_cleanup_post_merge_moot_lease: new read-first tool. Reports merged
  state, merge_commit_sha, linked-issue closure, lease-moot, cleanup
  performed/skipped, and no_merge_or_adoption. apply=True posts the released
  marker only when merged/closed with an active lease; refuses on open PRs.
- tests/test_post_merge_moot_lease.py: 10 tests covering acquire refusal on
  merged PR (no post), safe/idempotent cleanup, and open-PR foreign-lease
  protection.

No relaxation of #407 reviewer-lease or #16 gated-merge gates for open PRs.
